Plantar Fasciitis Ultrasound Images. Note the convex shape and hypoechoic change. Follow-up at 2 months.
This is due to the sensation of pain that occurs when walking. Plantar fasciitis can result from a number of causes which in general fall into three major. Plantar fasciitis characterized by pain in the plantar region of the foot that is worse when initiating walking is one of the most common causes of foot and heel pain in adults.
A Thickening of the plantar fascia greater than 45 mm with decreased echogenicity at its insertion to the calcaneal tuberosity is the typical feature of the proximal plantar fasciitis.
Plantar fibromatosis appears as well-demarcated nodular thickenings that are iso-hypoechoic on ultrasound and show low-signal intensity on MRI. Plantar fasciitis is seen sonographically as a thickening and hypoechogenicity of the plantar fascia at or near the calcaneal insertion especially medially and is often associated with a calcaneal spur 5 Fig. Plantar fasciopathy is a common cause of heel pain. A Thickening of the plantar fascia greater than 45 mm with decreased echogenicity at its insertion to the calcaneal tuberosity is the typical feature of the proximal plantar fasciitis.
